Google has unleashed early versions of Android 15, with the latest being Beta 4. You can download it manually onto a Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8 series phone, and also the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. If you have itchy fingers, you can also load it onto your Pixel 9 series device. If you don’t have a Pixel device, betas are available on devices from several OEMs, including HONOR, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Nothing. Alternatively, you can use the 64-bit system images with the Android Emulator in Android Studio.

As is customary, Google has also revealed an Android 15 release timeline. It’s very similar to the release trajectory of Android 13 and Android 14.

As you can see from the image above, the Android 15 release schedule aligns with what we saw last year. With the first and second developer previews now out the window, the version is well within its beta phase, with the latest Beta 4 launching on July 18.

Now that we’re out of developer previews and into betas, regular folks who don’t want to flash the developer preview manually can safely experience Android 15. In fact, with Beta 3, the operating system reached Platform Stability, indicating it’s nearly ready for launch, pending any last-minute bugs or issues.

The fourth Beta released in July marks the second platform stability milestone for the OS. This update means all app-related behaviors and the core functionality are essentially finalized, signaling to app developers that they need to finalize their updates to ensure compatibility with the new features and avoid issues when users upgrade.

While Google hasn’t outwardly mentioned a month for the final Android 15 stable rollout, details from the Android Beta Exit update screen suggest that Android 15 will be coming to Pixel devices in October 2024. Interestingly, the Android 15 source code will seemingly roll out much earlier, on September 3, 2024.

Naturally, the Android 15 release date for Pixel phones will precede other brands. Samsung and others should also start announcing the availability details of the new Android version around the same time as its final release.
