TL;DR

  • Pixel phones are finally getting the highly anticipated battery charging limit feature.
  • The feature has arrived with the November security update for Pixel phones.
  • It allows users to manually limit charging once their phone reaches 80% capacity.

Google has reportedly started rolling out Android 15‘s much-awaited battery charging limit feature. It allows users to limit charging once their phone reaches 80% capacity. The feature was previously expected to arrive in December in the Android 15 QPR 1 release.

A Telegram named @SlimRock user (via Assemble Debug) shared images of the new battery charging limit feature in action on the stable Android 15 November update with build number AP3A.241105.007 for Pixel phones. You can see the screenshots below:

We first reported about the battery charging limit feature back in July. When enabled, Pixel phones will only charge until their batteries reach 80% of their maximum capacity. This would help increase the lifespan of the phone battery and benefit users who plug in their phones for long hours.

Charging a smartphone battery to 100% regularly can cause more stress on the battery and reduce its lifespan by accelerating its degradation. This is especially true if the battery stays at full charge for long periods. The higher the charge level, the more stress the battery experiences. Hence the new feature should help preserve the long-term health of the phone’s battery.
